In april we sailed Windspirit T48 from Marsh Harbor out to the Gulfstream and up to Charleston. The way we went was 450 NM. We made the trip in 50 hours. The GPS regestered 13.5KTS max over the bottom and seldom dropped below 12. We had a 24 HR run of 284 NM. running up the center of the Gulfstream. Is this a record for a 48 or has someone gone farther in 24HRS?

That's great! That Gulf Stream moving walkway is a big help. Our best run on that leg was 9.5 nautical miles but we hit 12 SOG several times when we made 8 to 8.5 boatspeed on our V-42.

Is that you, Charlie? If so, then you'll be glad to know your old Windspirit can still hit the high notes 25 years later.

Congratulations.

When we left San Fran in March 06 for Los Angles (I just puchased the boat T-37) we knew it was going to be fun. We went under the gate into 17 foot sea's. We were surfing down 20 footer's about 40 miles off point Conception doing 14 knot's SOG. Can't say what we did in a day, but it sure was fun! GPS confirmed top speed when we finally reached L.A. We were burying the Signet at 12 knot's in the cockpit, didn't know we were going that fast till we looked at the GPS after sleeping for a couple of day's.
