I know what you mean - I'm not a "small child" but I am only 135 lbs. I go back to the stern all the time, it seems, due to the servicing of the SSB tuner, the Cape Horn windvane quadrant, a ...

Nelly Bly, yours is not quite like mine (Kamaloha) - mine is mounted internally, where the original was. The bolts, however, go through to the outside, and a sister (backing) plate is there to hold th ...

If yours is like mine, it is made by Perko and it is readily available. See http://www.discountmarinesupplies.com/Lock_Door_Handle_Sets-PERKO_927_MORTISE_LOCK_SET-.html for one example.

This topic will be interesting for me come Spring. I just replaced my shaft and prop, putting a Vari-Prop on there. I could not fit a Max-Prop in the aperture without modifying it, and the VariProp fi ...

I find my T37 is actually overpowered at 40 HP. By the time I hit 2500 RPM with my arrangement the stern is squatting, indicating I've hit hull speed. Any higher than that and I'm just burning more fu ...

It depends - what is your motor, (HP & model) and transmission gear ratio? My T37 has a Yanmar 4JHE (40HP) with a 2.14 gear ratio and a top end of 3600RPM, and turns a 450 x 200 prop (18" x 8 ...

I'll put in a second vote for the Fourwinds-II. I selected mine by rowing around the anchorage in Trellis Bay and listening. The 4W-II was the quietest one out there, and it really cranks out the amps ...

Harvey, your boat is much older than mine, and Steve's is somewhere in the middle. They changed the design between yours and mine; it will be interesting to see if Steve's is like yours or like mine. ...

The T37 hull is not built in halves (port-starboard) as far as I know; the hull is mated to the deck instead. The glass is about a half-inch thick or so at the stern, plenty to support the bolts with ...

Either way. It took me about a week to do mine all around. I left the knees in place and injected epoxy from the outside, chopped all the studs flush, and replaced with 4 x 1/2" studs through to ...

I through-bolted my aft chainplate whilst leaving it centered. No need to move it off center in order to through-bolt it. Just add a sister plate on the outside of the hull to back the bolt heads.

My davits were custom made in St. Martin (the French side) by a master craftsman from South Africa. I had him replace all the SS on the boat aft of the gallows - new rails (extended forward one stanch ...

PMFJI, I'd make sure that the voltage you are seeing is "real" before worrying about it. One thing about modern fancy "digital" voltmeters is that they have essentially infinite in ...

I just had to clear mine, and I found a piece of 3/16 SS wire with a frayed end in the boatyard dumpster and ran it down the vent hose from the outside. Did the trick nicely.

Harvey, what tiny thr ...
